Wilmington’s Homeowner Repair Lottery First Round Results Announced

December 20, 2023

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki and City Council President Trippi Congo today participated with other City officials in the Wilmington Homeowner Repair Lottery Drawing to select City homeowners who registered for a chance to receive home repairs totaling up to $10,000. A total of 85 numbers were drawn during the lottery from a total of about 1,400 registered applicants. The numbers were assigned to homeowners when they entered their name and property address in the lottery between December 1 and December 15. The winning numbers are included at the end of this release. You can watch a video of the lottery drawing here. The lottery was broadcast live today on the City’s TV station, WITN, Channel 22.

There is an income eligibility limit for Wilmington’s Homeowner Repair Program, which is intended to ensure that funding is available to those who need it most, and individuals must reside in and be the legal owner of the property to receive funding. Today’s winners will have their eligibility confirmed by the Department of Real Estate and Housing. Repairs could begin during the first few months of the new year.

Funding for the Wilmington Homeowner Repair Program totals about $1.7 million and the City estimates that approximately 170 homeowners in all will benefit. The lottery process was used to give those who registered an equal opportunity to be selected. The remaining 85 homeowners will be selected during a second lottery to be held next March. Those who registered for today’s lottery and were not selected must re-register for the March lottery.

In addition to Mayor Purzycki and Council President Congo, today’s numbers were selected by Tina Betz, Cultural Affairs Director Tina Betz; Yesinia Tavares, Director of Communications and Media Relations for Wilmington City Council; Ashley Christopher, Special Assistant to the Mayor and HBCU Week Coordinator; and Traci Owens, Executive Administrative Assistant to Wilmington City Council.
