National Night Out celebration returns Tuesday October 5
August 31, 2021
The Wilmington Police Department will continue its tradition of celebrating National Night Out with a community celebration held on Tuesday, October 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Rodney Square.
National Night Out is an annual community event that mobilizes millions across the country, and promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
Attendees will have the chance to meet and interact with police officers from various divisions and units, and members of our Canine Unit will conduct demonstrations with their K9 partners.
This year’s event will also include members of our department’s Recruitment Team, who will have information and applications available for the 101st Wilmington Police Academy. The deadline to apply for this next class is October 12, and our team will be on hand to share information and answer questions of prospective applicants. For more on this process, visit WilmingtonDE.gov/PoliceAcademy.
The Wilmington Police Department will be joined by various partners in law enforcement, public safety and public service, and COVID-19 vaccines will be available.
“National Night Out is a long-cherished annual celebration in Wilmington and in communities across the country,” said Police Chief Robert J. Tracy. “We look forward to continuing this tradition, and to hosting this free celebration for our residents to come out and enjoy an evening interacting with the officers who patrol their neighborhoods.”
There will also be plenty of public safety-related giveaways for children and adults alike!
